School Leader

Six Word Memoir:

“There’s no such thing as boredom.”

What’s your educational specialty/background?

I have two master’s degrees in science, a master’s degree in educational leadership, and a principal’s license. That says my educational specialty is learning, and my passion is the art and science of leadership!

Why Compass?

Our world needs creative, courageous, nimble, problem solvers and designers. Fort Collins is the perfect environment in which to create a school that will support young people in having these characteristics and skills! As educators and entrepreneurs, is our responsibility to answer the need.

What are five things that you know to be true?
  1. Humans are born to learn
  2. We shouldn’t take ourselves too seriously
  3. Connection is what makes life meaningful
  4. Exercise and nutrition make bodies more comfortable
  5. Civilization is fragile
What is one question that you are still searching for an answer to?

How contagious is educational innovation?

What is the greatest accomplishment of your life?

Raising two emotionally intelligent children and attracting THE dream team to start Compass with me.

If you could wake up tomorrow with one new quality or ability, what would it be?

I would be hysterically funny (instead of just easily amused)!

For what in your life do you feel the most grateful?

The love and support of my family, friends, pets, and my Compass team!

What three skills essential to live in these times?
  1. Self-management
  2. Ability to connect and relate to others
  3. Continuous learning
What are some of your favorite quotes?
"You may not always have a comfortable life and you will not always be able to solve all of the world's problems at once but don't ever underestimate the importance you can have because history has shown us that courage can be contagious and hope can take on a life of its own." - Michelle Obama
"Education is the most powerful weapon with which you can change the world." - Nelson Mandela
"The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity." - Amelia Earhart
