A recent NYT article reinforces why an integrated academic curriculum such as the community-engaged, project-based curriculum at Compass (CCC) is needed in today’s world. While we are not alone in this desire, we want to make literacy part of ALL venture projects and coursework at CCC. All ventures will be highly dependent on thoughtful communication including writing and speaking skills. This provides the basis for development of one of the core Compass Competencies, Communication and Foundational Literacy.
