Landscape Design Venture
In Katie’s Landscape Design and Installation venture, students are working with a Fort Collins client to design and install a residential landscape—including a goat playground! The community support has been overwhelming, including Compass parent and Master Gardener Jody Steger who came in to offer design and plant selection tips, a tour of the CSU Soil, Water and Plant Testing laboratory, and a visit from a CSU Landscape Architecture professor. The designs are well underway and the installation will begin in May.We cannot wait to show you what we have created at exhibition!
Sustainable Energy Venture
Last week Dawn’s Sustainable Energy Venture went on two outings. Students visited the Rawhide Energy Station and received a first class tour that was quite enLIGHTening. A big thank you to Platte River Authority for hosting us!On their second outing, students interviewed the FOCO Cafe and members of maker spaces in Old Town about solar powered lamp kits, what features they’d want in these lamps and what a recommended price point would be.
Last Tuesday, current and future Compass students and parents spent the evening connecting and playing Stratego, Connect Four, Labyrinth, and Werewolves and Villagers. We look forward to more of these Compass Family Game Nights next school year!
Fun With Flynn!
And lastly … as you can see here, Flynn is settling in brilliantly and bringing lots of smiles to Compass.
