Bobby Young, M. Ed.

Head of School

I bring more than 15 years of experience in U.S. public education, having served as a Principal, Assistant Principal, Curriculum Coordinator, and Teacher. I also spent five years as a residential leader with Outward Bound USA. My international leadership experience includes serving as Principal at The International School Port of Spain in Trinidad and Tobago and as Curriculum Coordinator at Boston International School in Wuxi, China—experiences that deepened my understanding of the diverse needs of students worldwide.

I earned a Master of Educational Leadership from Colorado State University, where my research focused on student engagement through project-based and experiential learning. I also hold a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and Geography from the University of Wisconsin.

Throughout my career, I have worked with a variety of curricular frameworks including the International Baccalaureate Programme, Expeditionary Learning, IGCSE, Advanced Placement, and the U.S. Common Core. I hold principal and administrative certifications in Colorado, China, and Trinidad and Tobago.

Outside of work, I’m a proud father to Lily, Iris, and Violet. My wife, Katie, is a Lactation Consultant at UCHealth. As a family, we’ve been fortunate to explore more than 20 countries together.

I’m honored to be part of the Compass community and excited to support a learning environment where every student graduates with a portfolio, a plan, and a path toward becoming an impactful world citizen.
