Teacher-Advisor: Middle School Social Studies

I attended Elon University for my undergraduate degree in History and later earned my Master’s in Education with the intent of creating a classroom that did not reflect the experience many of us had in history class—beyond boring and often taught by the football coach because it was considered “easy” to teach.

My first year of teaching was at the high school level, but it was interrupted by COVID. I then moved to middle school at a charter school in Greeley, where I discovered how much I truly enjoy working with middle school students.

When I learned about Compass, I was exhilarated by its approach to education—not only as a challenge for students, but for teachers as well. I am excited to continue my own learning within this community and to provide an inclusive and positive environment where we can explore how history impacts our lives today.
