Compass Students Work the Polls on Election Day

← Back to Compass Stories

"Working as an election judge this election gave me and my fellow classmates first hand experience working within the democratic system. It taught us the process of voting and the importance and responsibility that we, as Americans, have to serve and contribute to our democracy. As political tensions and polarization has risen in America it was refreshing to see the system that we so passionately stand for and work to better serve all of its citizens regardless of race, class, sexuality, gender, or political party. I felt it was my duty to contribute to this election because I feel responsible to my friends, family, neighbors, and community to fight for an America that fairly serves and treats all of its people."
