From Dance to Pokémon, Yearbook to Fishing—Compass students don’t just join clubs, they create them.
At Compass, students are encouraged to dream big and take the lead. Starting a new club is simple:
Pitch the idea to staff- Find a sponsor (staff or parent)
- Build a crew and get started!
We believe that giving students the freedom to organize, collaborate, and lead helps them develop some of life’s most valuable skills. Creating a club is more than just fun—it’s a hands-on lesson in teamwork, problem-solving, communication, and leadership. We think our clubs are pretty great and part of what makes us one of the best middle schools and high schools in all of Fort Collins.
By shaping their own school experience, Compass students build confidence, community, and the belief that their ideas matter.
Now, Compass is proud to celebrate a huge achievement from one of its clubs!
After taking 1st place at BOTH Regionals and State, the Compass Middle School Odyssey of the Mind team is heading to World Finals at Michigan State University!
This talented team of six middle schoolers has spent the year engineering, designing, performing, and problem-solving. Their creative challenge? To invent an animal capable of performing tricks like making something disappear, changing the backdrop, and making something reappear—all while incorporating live music, dynamic characters, and recycled materials.
Compass extends heartfelt thanks to parent volunteer Sally, who generously coached the team with her time, energy, and creativity.

The team has launched a GoFundMe to help make this unforgettable journey possible. As a tuition-free, public charter school with limited state funding, your financial support is deeply appreciated—donations and shares go a long way in helping these students shine on the world stage. THANK YOU!
