← Back to Compass Stories

Not one, but two of our new Compass Explorers (6th-grade) are successful entrepreneurs. What great role models for our other students and young people across our community! Kyle Northcutt already has a linkedIn profile to share and market his two business endeavors, a kit for kids to start a recycling business of their own, Kids Green Team, and his podcast designed to help kids understand career options and pathways, Kids Learn Careers. Kyle is learning a great deal about interview skills, marketing, leadership, financial management, and collaboration and having fun along the way! Great work, Kyle!

McKay Anderson has created a food business called Field Strips in which she manufactures and sells healthy snacks for humans. She markets them at the farmer’s market and she and her family can be found there on most Saturday mornings handing out samples and making sales. Marketed as “Delicious, Nutritious Snacks for Every Adventure”, McKay has created a snack that is vegetarian and gluten free, and easy to carry in your backpack for snacking any time. Another unique feature of McKay’s business is that she donates 5% of all profits to Colorado Feeding Kids, a local organization that helps feed food insecure families in Colorado. Way to pay it forward, McKay!

Kyle is a current entrepreneur and an aspiring astronautical engineer!
