Staff circled and worked all summer to stay connected and make Compass even better for this next school year.
We are so excited for the kids to come back! Many have come back to visit and help throughout the summer, but there is something especially energizing about having all the students here all together.
The first week of school will be Culture Camp to ease all of us back into the routines of the school year and build the bonds of our community and the habits of learning that make Compass the special place that it is all year long. Jenny, Katie, Pamela, Sam, and our student leadership team get all the credit for the week’s design. The theme of the week, and in fact the whole school year, is BELONGING.
Since the last week of school and Advisory Olympics, we have welcomed new staff (you have met them through the summer newsletters, and you will love them even more in person!), we have taken some time to refresh and reflect on all that we learned last year, and we have worked hard on the building and the program design to make sure that next year benefits from all that we learned last year. This is one of our fundamental values—staff are learners as much as the students, and being a small charter school, we are agile enough to respond quickly as we learn. We are committed to constant improvement. New AND returning parents, please join us tonight at 6:30p for Compass 101 v.2 to learn the details!
Gratefully Yours,
Jan
Camilo repainted like a champ!
Thanks to all the students who helped fix up the building over the summer!
Thanks to all the parents who helped us get ready for a great year.
Jason worked with upperclassmen to get their schedules arranged. Foundry and our new schedule are going to add lots of options for students!
