Additional Welcomes to New Staff Members

In addition to the new staff members to whom we introduced you in our last newsletter—Debbie Bush (Office Manager), Emmanuelle Roussel (English), Elana Sobol (math), Karen Karppinen (math), and Camilo Jimenez (Spanish)—we have additional new staff that will be offering new and exciting opportunities for our students.

With August just around the corner, we want to introduce our families to our new staff members and share our gratitude for some of last year’s staff that will be moving on to new adventures in their own careers.

Teacher Workshop Week: Reflecting on our First Year

Compass staff spent the week of June 3-7 working together to reflect on all that we had learned during Compass’ first year and refining and creating new learning experiences and protocols to make next year even better.

Final Exhibition of Learning for Year One!

A special thank you to Compass teachers, staff, parents—and most of all students for a successful final Exhibition of Learning for year one! Everyone came together to share and celebrate the learning highlights for the fourth quarter of the school year.

A Thank You Letter

Thank you for being the pioneers. Starting a school is not for the faint of heart. While we are confident in our skill as teachers and in the overwhelming research behind all we are doing, taking the project from theory to action (with a building of 170 strangers) was a lesson in iteration and growth.

Colorado Solar Sprint With Compass Students

We are so proud of Compass student’s performance at the Colorado Solar Sprint sponsored by NREL (the National Renewable Energy Laboratory)! We sponsored 6 cars at the competition, and 5 of those cars qualified for the double-elimination finals.

Landscape Design and Installation Venture

In Katie’s Landscape Design and Installation venture, students are working with a Fort Collins client to design and install a residential landscape—including a goat playground!
